We have been operating on the Salmon for 25 years and some of our guides have been with CANYONS for more than 24 of those years. Nearly 70% of our client list has returned with us and often for more than 3 trips. This great success is much in tribute to our incredible guides. All of the river community is comprised of very talented passionate people, but we feel we have something very special with our guide staff and the intertwined family we have built. - individuals that often leave our guests feeling like they have made lifetime friendships. We take good care of our guides with a wellness program that includes a yoga, chiropractic, or massage program as well as the opportunity to bring a family member or friend each year. We annually develop a continuing education program and refresh our guides with a formal whitewater rescue course taught by some of the leaders in the industry, (which includes members of our staff). We require above and beyond the standard first aid and training requirements set by the state of Idaho Outfitters & Guides Licensing Board.

- 12 Day and Kayak Options
Unplug and Recharge. There are fewer and fewer opportunities to remain completely unplugged for this number of days in the states. CANYONS is one of the only outfitters to offer an uninterrupted 12-day trip on our beautiful Middle Fork & Main Salmon rivers. In addition to these unique back-to-back trips, we tout ourselves as the premier company for whitewater enthusiasts, being the number one company to accommodate kayakers and canoeists . We have a guide kayak as a standard on nearly every trip. And, if you are new to kayaking, we provide inflatable kayaks for guests of all skill levels, to experience that sense of independence and excitement.

CANYONS is committed to its stewardship of these amazing rivers, our precious global environment and the efforts that it takes to protect those.
We have a full recycling program. And at CANYONS, we grow much of our own vegetables right at our warehouse, and we buy much of our local produce from farmers markets, locally roasted coffees, local breads and baked goods, and local beers and wines. We provide Idaho grown potatoes and Nez Perce fresh-caught salmon from the river. We use as much local fresh foods as possible, creating a delicious menu filled with fresh tastes and hand cooked seasonal creations.

- In our nomadic life, we practice low impact camping and encourage our guests to explore and nest in areas that may be further set aside as to lessen our impact in these beautiful camps. This provides our guests with their own sense of privacy and a sense of responsibility in creating their own home.Your footprint is much greener than you may imagine when you vacation with CANYONS. While rafting with 24 guests, studies show that our trash is nearly a tenth of what you might create on a typical beach or Disney vacation. Your water use is also significantly reduced, as we sip on the pure filtered river water for the week and stay fresh in beautifully located hot springs. And the fossil fuel reduction goes without saying, as we utilize our own human-powered energies, coupled with that of the river, to travel such great distances. Enjoy the dance, and feel the special energy that happens when oars meet water.
