Planning Your Trip: Flight Option

Your flight with us will depart from Boise at 7:30 AM on the day of the launch. The pilots will meet you at the McCall Aviation kiosk at the west end of the main Boise airport terminal, near baggage claim, on the ground level. You should plan to check in no later than 7:15 am. Upon your request, your hotel courtesy van will deliver you there on the morning of your departure. No tickets are needed for this backcountry flight; the pilot will arrive and ask for you by name, or simply as "Canyons River Runners". You’ll have an opportunity to change into your river clothes at the put-in changing rooms, so just wear whatever’s comfortable that morning. Our first meal together will be lunch that day, so be sure to eat a hearty breakfast or take some snacks along to keep you going until then. On the last day of your trip, we’ll fly you back to Boise, arriving around 5:30 pm. Flights from and back to other Idaho cities can be arranged. Please call us for details.

When packing, please refer to our "What To Bring" list in the back of our brochure or on the web site. To accommodate space and weight limits on the plane, please limit your baggage to 45 lbs. and pack your clothing, personal items and sleeping bag/pad (unless you are renting ours) in duffel bags or soft packs....no suitcases, external frame packs, wheeled luggage or anything with rigid edges, in other words. Once you get to the river, you will transfer those things into a large (16” diameter x 32” tall) dry bag that we’ll provide for each guest. Tents will also be provided at the put in, along with a smaller day-use dry bag to hold "quick access" items that you might want to get to during the day, like a raincoat, camera, sunscreen, etc.

If you need lodging in Boise, we suggest you make reservations for the night before your trip's launch and the night you come off the river. We list a few hotels on our web site, but feel free to contact us if you need any further suggestions. If you choose either the Vista Inn or Inn America, be sure to mention the “IOGA” discount that is available to all of our river trip guests. Any items that you do not want to take with you on the river trip may be left with your hotel front desk staff for safekeeping. Although most hotels do offer this service, you may want to double check with them when you make your reservation.
